LONG(ER) VERSION:

My name is Aaron Uhrmacher and this is my blog.

I am currently a peer media consultant in New York. Professionally, I am passionate about how companies are embracing social media platforms to improve communications with their various audiences (employees, customers, business partners, etc.).

As a peer media consultant, I have been fortunate to work with some of the world’s largest and best known brands to help them identify, listen to and engage in online conversations with their various stakeholders. These may occur across blogs, social networks or even virtual worlds. My peer media work has earned several industry awards, including PRWeek’s Top 10 Rising Stars and the PRWeek Young PR Professional of the Year.

One of the projects for which I’m most proud is the work I’ve done to help companies establish their own communities in the virtual world of Second Life, where my avatar is Smiddy Smails. It’s received a bit of recognition from the community. Three companies I’ve worked with are even referenced in this BusinessWeek article, The (Virtual) Global Office.

Outside of work, I’m an avid amateur photographer, softball player and sneakerhead. I also have an aversion to tuna fish, heights and opera (in that order).
